Short-term rental permits in residential neighborhoods
A May 9 party at a Lampton Street rental drew hundreds of teenagers, gunfire nearby, and a neighborhood blackout — and now the city's revoked rental registration is on appeal. Neighbors say they had no way to reach the owner or management company that night. The board will decide November 2 whether to restore the license or consider lesser penalties.
Short-term rental expansion and legalization
One 5-acre Harrods Old Trace rental expanded to 16 guests with neighbor agreements barring firearms and drones; a Breitenstein Avenue Airbnb that's operated for four years was finally permitted. Both must register with the city within 30 days.
Short-term rental rules and registration waivers
Two STR permits were approved and a waiver let five unregistered units on Preston Highway register despite citations — the board reasoned the C-1 zone already allows hotels and B&Bs.
Short-term rental density and enforcement
Three of the five cases involved short-term rentals — one approval and two revocation appeals. Neighbors in Butchertown described a party, a shooting, and chronic trash problems, while the South Third owner won his registration back after fixing code issues.
